Our customers know that HPK’s dogs are excellent in the bird field, in the duck marsh, and in the home. However, with the help of Joan Nold from Labs for Liberty, we discovered that our dogs could serve as partners for wounded veterans. Consequently, HPK has entered into a partnership with two 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to providing America’s wounded warriors with service dogs.
Labs for Liberty was founded by Joan and Roger Nold. You can read more about her business and its start here. Joan and her organization have now trained two service dogs and placed them with vets, and they are working on two more. In the coming year, Hunters Point Kennel will be working with Joan to help provide service dogs to the many military vets that Labs For Liberty reaches out to.
Shortly after pairing with Labs for Liberty, HPK was approached by another organization called the Puppy Jake Foundation. The Puppy Jake Foundation is dedicated to helping military veterans through the assistance of well bred, socialized and professionally trained service dogs. As you can imagine, HPK’s dogs appear to fit very well for this group as well. In the winter of 2014 HPK will be sending Puppy Jake, three dogs for them to begin training for the service profession!
